Dear S’Cool Life!

On behalf of the students and staff at Angik School in Paulatuk, we would like to say Thank-you very much for your very generous $2000 grant!!

The money was used to help fund an after school drum-making project for our school. Traditional drum kits were purchased from a drum maker in Inuvik, NT and then students were shown how to make the drums during our after school art class. Eight drums were made in total, which gave all interested students the chance to be involved and try making the drums.

The completed drums are used in the school, as well as at community celebrations and during evening drum dance practices. They are a wonderful addition to our school and we wouldn’t have been able to complete this project with out S’Cool Life’s support.

This email is a forward of the email I sent News North regarding our project! We were given a full page colour spread :)

Thank-you again!

Sincerely,

Angik School
Paulatuk, NT

2007 - Sports

Tusarvik School- Repulse Bay, NU

The program consists of developing a school soccer program that aims to instill the values of self-discipline, responsibility, and self-esteem through sport. These values are crucial in such an isolated community. The program will provide students with one more opportunity to participate in a healthy activity. After establishing a team in the community, students will also have the chance to partake in tournaments against other teams. The chance to play with students from other communities is a great way for students up here to extend their network of friends.
